The organ was built and installed by Peter Conacher of Springwood, Huddersfield c.1885 to the order of a local generous industrialist without regard to expense in either materials or workmanship.

The instrument has not been played for 25 years, and there is no evidence of an overhaul in the past 60 years or so.

The organ has been disconnected but, having some knowledge of Conacher's work, the excellent quality of the pipework, and the unlikelihood of any interference with the original voicing, we are confident that the organ can be brought back to its former glory.
