LOCATION & DIMENSIONS.

The Organ stands at the rear of a platform or podium approx 12' square of which the organ is 10' wide, 8'deep (incl. Pedal Board) and 15' high. The Great Organ extends forward over the console toward the front of the platform for approx 3' 6" where the case and building frame are supported on two substantial timber pillars.

WIND SUPPLY Provided by Rotary Blower driven by 112 hp single phase electric motor. The wind reservoirs bellows and Regulator are located underneath the organ within the rear of the foundation platform. Pressure is approx 3.5" swg .

GENERAL CONDITION. This instrument has been professionally cared for throughout its life, for many years by the firm who created it. Where it has been possible to inspect, leatherwork shows no sign of desiccation and timber within is of excellent quality and sound. Keyboards and console furniture is excellent. The Building Frame is substantial quality pine. There is no obvious sign of deterioration or infestation.

ACTIONS. There is little indication of any serious work having been necessary on the original tracker action. It is very responsive and light - even with Couplers drawn. From the Manuals long stickers of Cedar operate a backfall beam directly to the Swell and forward via trackers to the Great. Whilst there must obviously some wear, it is not obvious to the player.

TONAL IMPRESSION. This instrument is unashamedly a romantic organ with beautifully regulated and voiced pipework . Whilst, on paper, it appears lacking in upperwork , the provision of a very useable Swell Octave Coupler overcomes this to a large degree in a resonant location. The Diapasons are very musical and the flutes can only be described as 'luscious' The one and only reed is a good compromise between a solo and chorus voice and capable of many qualities. We were not able to examine the pipework directly but from its tonal make-up it must be very well made of excellent material. The Pedal Bourdon 16' is situated at the rear of the console and at the sides and was originally prepared to be an additional extension to the Great. This was apparently not completed but the chest, rack boards etc. remain unused at the treble end together with space on the

Stop Jamb for the Stop.

CONCLUSION. This organ has many more years of life left before expensive restoration becomes necessary. A simple Clean & Overhaul to the usual standards by a conscientious firm in conjunction with its transfer will be an economic exercise (provided that it can be built into a similar location as it now occupies, i.e. without drastic alteration to the building frame or layout).
